Watch Austin City Limits

Austin City Limits is always a showcase of exceptionally talented musicians who offer their skills to audiences in a relatively small studio setting where home viewers are left with a feeling that they are getting their own personal performance, right at home. Quaint is one adjective that describes the aura that is projected by these gifted entertainers and the taping venue. Warm, friendly, and inviting are others, which describe the subtle and friendly atmosphere.

One may enjoy the plethora of stars that will be routinely offered on a weekly basis. Concerts bring the viewer the songs that they already know and anxiously await to enjoy live from their favorite performers. Television fans are no different from those in attendance. The nearly intimate setting comes to life by way of both technology and human skill. Advance electronics deliver accurate sounds that the home listener will find comparable to what the audience is hearing. Camera technicians exhibit creativity that reveals each artist in a unique fashion. Video angles are often impressive with close-up imaging.

The performers represent many genres. Representing laid-back, yet popular performers, such names as Jimmy Buffett, Lyle Lovett, Norah Jones, Suzanne Vega, and Emmylou Harris, can be found on this popular Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) program. Not only are the more casual entertainers seen, but other types are just as frequently seen, including those from Jazz: Buddy Guy, B.B. King, and Eric Johnson. There are singers who are anything but casual. Rock singers like The Allman Brothers Band, Coldplay, Elvis Costello, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., and Foo Fighters, have offered some of today's most popular songs to viewers who are getting an experience of being near the singers, without ever having to leave their home setting.

When one thinks about Austin City Limits, one may think about Austin, Texas and the heavy influence of country music that defines the state of Texas. As mentioned, there are genres of many that are represented. However, it is Country Music that the show finds itself gravitating toward most frequently. Performers, such as Willie Nelson, The Dixie Chicks, and Merle Haggard, often display their artistry through this recurrent, and often trendy showcase.
