Watch Cuban Chrome

Cuban Chrome is the first documentary series to actually be filmed entirely in Cuba. The series which will air on the both the English and Spanish version of the Discovery Channel takes an intimate look at the way the automobile is perceived in Cuba. For years because of the embargo that began in 1959 any American made automobiles were not imported to Cuba, so the country used what many would now perceive as classic American automobiles. This types of cars were quite common to find on the streets of Cuba, and as Cuban Chrome explores, many Cubans still use these automobiles and some even see these cars as part of their culture.

The show features A Lo Cubano Car Club, who are a group of classic car lovers who are determined to not only preserve the classic automobiles but work to keep the cars operating. The program explores the difficulties that the group must endure in order to keep the cars functioning and on the streets. The program explores the ups and downs that the group goes through in order to preserves the classic cars for future generations.

Another thing that is interesting to note, the series was actually in production before Cuba and the United States agreed to reopen diplomatic relations. So the series actually goes into this development and the impact that it has on those in the A Lo Cubano Car Club and those around them, touching on a piece of history that will be documented in the years to come.
